What is the difference between “Career Coaching” and “Job Search” Coaching?

Career Coaching is for those who are not sure what direction they want to take in their career. Maybe they want to use their degree but are not sure what they can do with that degree. Maybe they got a degree just because they felt it was necessary to do so, but they aren’t sure what they would like to do now that they have graduated. Maybe the career path they expected to take is not, after all, what they wanted, and they need to change direction – but to where?

Job Search Coaching is for those who know what they want to do but don’t know how to go about finding it. Maybe they expected to get hired through campus recruiting, but that didn’t happen. Or maybe they thought that sending out several dozen resumes would generate interviews and job offers, but nothing happened.

Our goal is to help you with whatever you need, and so our coaching often involves both Career Coaching as well as Job Search Coaching.

How long will coaching take?

As you might expect, that’s impossible to answer.  Everyone is so unique! We have designed packages that we believe, based on our experience, will suit almost everyone’s needs.

Will you get me a job?

We are not recruiters, headhunters, a placement firm, or an employment agency. (Even if we were, those are places that aren’t likely to get recent college graduates a job, or if they do, it’s not necessarily a job you really want.) Our role is to coach you to the career and job you seek. We guide, we advise, we nudge, we counsel, we give ideas, we share our experience and opinions, we dish out shortcuts and hard-earned bits of wisdom. We’ve got a wealth of knowledge, information, and ideas to let you in on, and we want to be as helpful as possible – but ultimately, you make the decision about what you want to do with your career, and you conduct the job search.

Can you give me client references?

Certainly. Let us know if you’d like to speak with some of our clients to hear their success stories.

Do you do coaching in person or over the phone?

We coach over the telephone or via Skype, your choice.

Questions about payment? Please review these frequently asked questions and if you still are unsure please call Bridget Hotrum at 724-288-1504 or via email.

What choices do I have for payment?

You can send a personal or business check.

Do you offer a guarantee?

The fact is, no reputable career coach can promise anyone a job or guarantee specific results. We can’t promise you a job or any particular outcome – that’s out of our control because you are the one who must do the follow-through. But you have our guarantee that we are fully dedicated to you and committed to using our God-given expertise, wisdom, creativity, insight, and practical knowledge to help you learn things like what you are well suited to do, the kinds of places you can do it, how to land interviews, how to do well on those interviews, how to negotiate your salary, and how to make a good first impression when you are hired.
